This client wanted a very drought tolerant landscape that would be hand watered with little maintenance.

This project is hand-watered. The stone mulch retains moisture in the soil and protects root systems from drying out.
Large, round stones set on the edge for mulch. Metal edging creates a neat line.

A new Trex Deck has a French drain installed underneath which flows to our newly installed drainage system. The new wood trellis replaces barbed wire on poles.

A viewing panel was created in the new dog gate. A large chunk of cement is buried under the gate to discourage digging. A new drain can be seen in the front.
All irrigation is subsurface and uses a "Smart," controller to save water and money.
A flagstone pathway matches the original patio, Boulders and rocks on site were recycled into the landscape. Dymondia is planted between flagstones and is watered by drip irrigation.

All planting material is drought tolerant and produces little to no litter that could go into the pool.
Overhead structure was falling down. Short brick wall impeded drainage and patio flooded during heavy rains. Fences were different heights & colors. Posts were in the way. Old tile was funky. Some wood was termite infested.
New flagstone paving. Fences are now the same and are painted to match the house. New firepit and outdoor lighting. Shade cloth lets more light into area and keeps cats inside. Wire netting above firepit.
This became an area where pets could roam freely and was also an outdoor entertainment space that was attractive, roomy and light. Drainage flows into the planting beds. The firepit that matches the flagstone floor is the centerpiece of the patio and a natural gathering place. Outdoor lighting makes it usable day or night.
Dead grass was removed. Edging installed on edges and a new irrigation system installed.
Drought tolerant Carex Pansa plugs installed. Edges planted with drought tolerant perennials.
Many clients are now choosing to remove old lawns and replace them with drought tolerant grass. Many varieties remain green year round, can be shade tolerant and use one half the irrigation of regular lawns. The grass can be mowed to look like a regular lawn or can be left unmowed for a meadow effect.
